Work Description:
Changping County, Beijing Municipality (Beijing Shi). Five-bay marble gate, pailou (freestanding ceremonial gate), entry to Spirit Path (also translated as ''Way'' or ''Road''). The gate itself was erected by the Emperor Jiajing (r. 1522-1566) in 1540, but the spirit path was completed in 1435.
