Work Description:
Reign date of Emperor Jiajing. Wucai means ''five enamels.'' It is actually made of three enamels (red, green, and yellow) within outlines of underglaze cobalt blue or blackish dry cobalt, plus the white of the porcelain body. Jingdezhen ware, made in Jingdezhen (town and county seat), Jiangxi province. For most of its existence the town was part of Fouliang, in Raozhou Prefecture. These kilns had a continuous history of manufacturing porcelain from the Tang period (618?907).
