Alonso López de Herrera ( Mexico City , 1579 -died after 1648 ) was a friar Dominican and Spanish Baroque painter who worked in America between 1609 and 1634 in colonial Mexico , where he was known as the "Divine Herrera." He cultivated the genre of portrait (Portrait of Fray Garcia Guerra, 1609 at the Museum of Chapultepec ) and also the religious theme , which highlights her Assumption and various versions of the Holy Face.
