Work Description:
The central tympanum depicts the preaching of the Good News. Christ is seated, surrounded by the apostles. St. Peter, shown with his keys, sits closest to the right side of Christ. The upper archivolt features medallions that alternate between Labors of the Months and the signs of the zodiac, indicating the passage of time. The lintel and inner archivolt depict the mythical and real people who will hear the message, including cynocephalics (dog-headed people from India), Panotii (giant-eared race of people), and Pygmies. A Roman sacrifice is shown.
