Controversy around the size of the sculpture as well as the "ethnicity" of some of the figures. Discussions about finding a new place. Ellen Jaskol began her photojournalism career at the LA Times before moving to Denver to work for the Rocky Mountain News. Along with other photo staff members, she won the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for coverage of the Columbine Shooting and the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for coverage of the Colorado wildfires. Jaskol also won the newspaper's Photographer of the Year award in 2008. She worked for the Rocky Mountains News for seventeen years. Born in Denver, Colorado in 1947, Emanuel Martinez began his career as an artist at the age of thirteen, when he painted his first mural. His art education includes workshops with world renowned artists and sculptors including David A. Siquieros and Francisco Zuniga. At the age of 20, Emanuel did a major work and two other pieces that are now in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American Art in Washington, D.C. As a muralist, painter and sculptor he occupies an outstanding status among nationally known artists. Since establishing a studio in 1968, Martinez has received international acclaim and prestigious awards for his design capabilities and high standards of workmanship. He enjoys personalizing compositions for clients and doing public works of art for site-specific environments. His work is lively, timeless, yet conveys a sense of serenity. Dan joined Interactive Week in late 2000 to cover telecommunications after 10 years at Denver's Rocky Mountain News. As a reporter there, he did investigative project reporting, and later covered the state legislature and Denver city hall. Before that, Dan was a member of the investigative team at the Indianapolis Star. He is also a former columnist at the Fort Wayne (Ind.) News Sentinel. Luzadder shared a Pulitzer Prize in 1983, and has won dozens of awards for investigative reporting and news writing. He was named to the Scripps Howard Journalism Hall of Fame in 1992. He has a bachelor's degree from Ball State University, where he studied journalism, English and political science. He spent nearly 30 years writing for newspapers before joining Interactive Week.
