Work Description:
Work in progress due to COVID-19 pandemic. Artist statement: My art deconstructs the Generation Z identity. The characteristics of my generation which I am most interested in are apathy, E-culture aesthetics, and fetishizing of mental illness and substance abuse within popular media. As religious belief declines in Western culture, younger generations have started craving existential meaning within life. I claim that internet culture has become a surrogate for religion in teenage culture.
