Angela Cortez is a Colorado native with an extensive background in journalism. She received her bachelor's degree in mass communications from Metropolitan State University in 1989. Cortez has served on the editorial boards of both The Denver Post, as an editorial and commentary writer, and The Desert Sun newspaper in Southern California, where she served as the editorial page editor. She was one of several reporters awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 2000 for the breaking news coverage of the Columbine High School massacre.
