Carlos Frésquez was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, where he still resides. He received a BA from Metropolitan State College in 1980 and a MFA from the University of Colorado, Boulder in 1995. He is currently an Associate Professor at Metropolitan State University of Denver, where he serves as area coordinator of Painting. He has exhibited his artwork in over 30 states and in ten different countries, including China, Spain, Chile, Brazil, Czech Republic and Russia. Frésquez has lectured about Chicano art history and his own artwork at many colleges, universities, galleries, and art centers. "Cecilia Alvarez (born April 15, 1950) is an American Chicana artist known for her oil paintings and murals depicting themes of feminism, poverty, and environmental degradation in the United States and Latin America. Alvarez's painting Las Cuatas Diego has been featured in books and exhibitions around the world. Alvarez has also illustrated the bilingual children's book Antonio's Card authored by Rigoberto González.
